How to set up Back Tap on iPhone to capture notes
A 2-minute setup that turns the back of your iPhone into an instant capture button. Triple-tap, speak, and the thought is saved before it's gone.
Back Tap is a built-in iOS accessibility feature: tap the back of your iPhone and it runs an action you choose. Point it at MindBlink and a thought goes from idea to saved and understood in under a second — no unlocking, no hunting for an app, no blank note staring back at you. Here's the exact setup, plus what to do if a tap doesn't register.
MindBlink turns that Back Tap into an instant voice note — recording in under 800ms, fully on-device. Get MindBlink on the App Store
Set it up in three steps
Open Back Tap settings
On your iPhone, go to Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap. (Search "Back Tap" in Settings if you can't find it.)
Settings · Accessibility · TouchAssign Triple Tap
Tap Triple Tap, scroll to the bottom under Shortcuts, and choose MindBlink's Capture Thought action. Open MindBlink once first so the action is registered.
Triple Tap → Capture ThoughtTriple-tap and speak
Tap the back of your iPhone three times. MindBlink launches straight into recording — even from a cold start, even from your pocket — typically in under 800ms. Speak, and it's saved.
Back tap → live mic, under 800msThat's it. There's nothing else to configure — MindBlink transcribes, reads what you said, and schedules it to resurface when it matters, all on your device.
Don't have the app yet? Step 2 needs MindBlink installed and opened once so Capture Thought appears in the list. Download MindBlink on the App Store
Prefer not to use Back Tap?
Back Tap is the fastest trigger, but it isn't the only one. The same one-tap capture lives in several places — use whichever your hands reach first.
If a tap doesn't register
Triple-tap isn't launching MindBlink
I don't see a MindBlink option in the list
It fires by accident in my pocket
Recording starts but nothing is transcribed
Does Back Tap work when the phone is locked?
Never lose a thought again
Set up Back Tap once and the next great idea is already taken care of. Triple-tap. Speak. Done.
