Getting started

Install MindBlink, run through the 4-page onboarding, and set up Back Tap so you can capture with a triple-tap on the back of your phone.

How it works

Capturing thoughts

Voice or text, Back Tap, Control Center, the Action Button, or the widget. Shake to erase and start over mid-thought — nothing is ever saved silently wrong.

Capture issues

Reminders & triggers

Natural-language times ("tomorrow at 8"), "why now" buffers, location and compound triggers, smart snooze, and Focus-mode filtering.

Reminders not firing?

The widget

The ONE-thought widget shows the single most actionable thing right now, with a "why now" caption. Tap Done to complete it from your home screen.

Widget not updating?

Privacy & your data

Everything that understands your thoughts runs on-device. Sync is your own private iCloud. Export to JSON/CSV/text, or delete everything, anytime.

Troubleshooting

Back Tap isn't launching MindBlink
Open Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap → Triple Tap and choose MindBlink's "Capture Thought" action. Make sure you've opened the app at least once first so the action is registered. Back Tap can be less reliable inside thick cases — if it misfires, you can also capture from Control Center, the Action Button, or the home-screen widget.
A reminder didn't fire
First check notifications are on: Settings → MindBlink → Notifications. If they're off, MindBlink shows a "Reminders are off" banner on the capture screen. Also confirm the time wasn't in the past (MindBlink warns with "Time Already Passed" rather than dropping it), and that a Focus mode like Sleep or Driving isn't filtering it — user-requested reminders bypass Focus, but inferred ones may be deferred.
Location ("when I arrive") reminders aren't working
Geofenced reminders need Always location permission (Settings → MindBlink → Location → Always). With only "While Using," MindBlink shows a one-time explainer that background place reminders can't run. iOS also caps apps at 20 monitored regions — MindBlink manages this budget automatically and evicts the oldest when full.
The widget shows "Nothing pending" or won't update
The widget only shows actionable thoughts — ones with an unfired trigger or higher urgency. Reflections, ideas, and questions never appear there, so "All clear" is often correct. If you expect something and it's missing, capture a new thought to refresh, or remove and re-add the widget. It updates within about 30 seconds of a change.
Transcription is wrong or cuts off
MindBlink needs Microphone and Speech Recognition permission (Settings → MindBlink). For best accuracy, speak naturally and pause briefly between sentences. If a transcription looks off, shake to erase and try again — the audio session keeps running, so there's no delay. Long, paused dictation is stitched together automatically.
My thoughts aren't syncing between devices
Sync runs through your private iCloud. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID on both devices and that iCloud is enabled for MindBlink (Settings → [your name] → iCloud). Sync needs a network connection on both ends and can take a little time after a capture; everything keeps working offline in the meantime.
How do I export or delete all my data?
In the app, open Settings → Privacy. You can export all thoughts as JSON, CSV, or plain text via the share sheet or Files, and you can permanently delete all thoughts or all saved locations (with a confirmation step). See the Privacy Policy for details.
